A new era of media formats: print brands launch TV channels

The media landscape keeps evolving, and we are watching an interesting shift in how content is delivered and consumed. Over recent months one trend has stood out: traditional print publishers are extending their reach into television.

In Croatia, Večernji TV, Poslovni TV and 24sata TV have taken that step. The new channels combine the best of both worlds — reports from leading journalists and commentators, conversations with the people behind the issues of the day, and entertainment content as well.

And there is a twist: these channels, promoted as TV stations, are in fact the newest extension of print brands — and they are claiming space on YouTube.

Hybrid formats as added value for the audience

Where does this come from? The line between print and television keeps thinning as publishers recognise the value of getting closer to an audience that already trusts them, and as video keeps growing in popularity. The new channels let them keep that trust and their editorial voice, while viewers get the reliable content they know from their favourite print titles in a more engaging, live format.

What print media TV channels mean for monitoring

The future of media is here, and it is multidimensional. At Presscut we follow closely how new formats shape the future of content, and we keep developing media monitoring solutions that keep you current with every change.

These channels will certainly carry debate on significant topics — and a monitoring list is only genuinely complete when the new channels are on it too. You can see what we cover on our TV programmes list.
