Presscut participates in the 4th Media Literacy Days through the MELIA Observatory project

This year, Presscut joined the 4th Media Literacy Days through the MELIA Observatory Workshop on Media Literacy and Media Education – Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop was organized by our MELIA Observatory project partners from the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The MELIA Observatory project focuses on establishing the media literacy observatory that would provide instruments for critical observation of media content, education tools and recommendations to improve media literacy.

The workshop was held on Friday, 23 April 2021 via video conference that lasted over three hours.

Over 50 participants from five countries were given lectures by Srečko Zakrajšek and Mira Petek from Slovenia, Lana Ciboca, Dražen Hoffmann and Marin Ilej from Croatia, Boban Tomić and Ana Mirković from Serbia, Vuk Vuković and Elvira Ceković from Montenegro, and Enes Osmančević, Edin Skokić and Anida Sokol from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The politicisation of the media, declining professional criteria in journalism, propaganda and fake news are common problems observed in all countries, the speakers agreed, making co-operation and assistance essencial in defining guidelines for policy makers in the Danube region.
